I've been meandering other anime forums lately. Why have I not done this before? I have no idea. Maybe it's just because work is slow, and I'm bored silly.

But I noticed some things. For one people were not nearly as nice as J-tor people. I was told to "GTFO" for basically telling someone that their link did not work. There's probably more to it, but that's the version I'm sticking to.

I also noticed that each site had kind of developed this common humor unique to the "hive mind" of that forum, and my particular brand of humor did not always mesh well.

Furthermore, the general wit and intelligence was of a lower standard then I've seen here at Japanator.

EX: I didn't get Arakawa. The girl is from Venus; so what she doing on Earth?

<facepalm>

I guess what I'm trying to say is that even tho we don't speak much. . . and even tho I tend to be a lurker . . . .

*blushes*

I . . . I LIKE YOU MY JAPANATOR ALLIES!

I am deeply in like with you.

There it's been said. I regret nothing.

Being the first to reply to this post I kinda feel like I'm taking all the praise. :L

But yeah, can't argue with that. It does seem like animefans in general can get their panties in a bunch over the stupidest things, and now you mention it I haven't seen that happening around here yet. One reason for that may be that the forums are still trying to find their audience and the few regular posters who are here right now are very conscious of how they act in order to shape this place into something better than the spamfest that was Japanator forums 1.0 (even if that means certain welcoming topics remain unanswered). Another thing I noticed is that the average age is relatively high around here, so that might help in some ways as well.

Having said that, we still need to talk more! I could talk about my neighbour's cat or the new shoes I bought. Any more ideas?

Dude, you never correct a man and his broken links. What's wrong with you! GTFO!
:)

Actually, what shoes did you buy? I am genuinely interested, and might offer some advice on future purchases. I used to be a shoe-holic for a while back in college. Freshmen year I went from owning 3 pairs of shoes (dress, casual, tennis shoes) at the beginning of the year, to around 20 by the end of the year.

And I'm really more of a dog person. Any neighbors with puppies?

Damn it PB, why are you being such a glory hog? GAWD!!!!!1111one

Seriously though I think the Japanator community is probably the best I've ever been a part of.

As for the cat/dog discussion we have four cats and one dog. Only wanted one of the cats and the dog, the others we brought in because they had nowhere else to go.

I'll bring up yet another point of discussion. The rest of you all as big of a video game freak as I am? I've been getting my ass kicked in Super Street Fighter IV lately and been loving every second of it.

Four cats a dog?? DAAAMN, thats a lot of animals. I love, bu I know that if I got one, it would fins some way to eat my videogames or pee on my consoles, and I'd probably kill it in a rage fit.

Yeah, I consider myself a pretty decent gamer. My main passion is RPGs. I'm currently playing Resonance of Fate a lot after finishing FFXIII last month.

I'm a big fan of FPSs too, but I hate all this MW2/BC2 stuff where you level up and gain more guns and perks and whatnot. The only one I play consistently is Battlefield 1943: 3 guns, 3 maps, 3 vehicles, open access for all. Pure fun that takes actual skill.

I'm trying to get into shmups too. I like playing Ikaruga a lot, but I am beyond horrible at it. I've never even gotten past the 3rd stage boss. Which is very wierd when I found myself preordering Deathsmiles. I'm also a sucker for collector's editions of videogames :)

You play anyhting other than streetfighter?

This thread makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Let's cuddle up and sing a song together.

I still think we could use a chat/IRC-room to prance around in, but if the Japanator staff doesn't have the time to patrol around in IRC, then I guess it's not feasable.

Well, all the animals are female except for one of the cats. We only have to worry about him spraying and we've got him on medication for that. It makes him more relaxed so he's not anxious all the damn time.

And I play anything as long as it's fun. I tried Resonance of Fate but couldn't figure out the tri-attack tutorial and got pissed and traded that shit in. Only JRPG I've ever completed (besides Pokemon Red) is Valkyria Chronicles and it's in my top five. I've been trying to play some more JRPGs but I've yet to beat any of them.

I also love me a good FPS, the Battlefield series is my favorite. I honestly don't mind the leveling up stuff it adds replay value. The one thing I hope they add to the next main Battlefield game are battleships like in 1942. Driving those things around was awesome.

As for DeathSmiles I can't wait for it. I've never played a shmup (beyond Super R-Type and the stuff in Retro Game Challenge) so it should be fun if not a bit frustrating.

Next thing on my lists of games to buy are Alan Wake and Red Dead Redemption. Both come out the same day so I'm not sure which I'll play first. Probably Wake since it'll be shorter than Red Dead.

Shit, I can talk about video games all day, lol.

Let's cuddle up and sing a song together.

Only if I get to cuddle up with Jon. OH JON WHERE ARE YOU!?!?!?! :(

We have 5 cats actually. Every single one of them a stray that just meandered onto our property and then eventually into our house. Our house must have cat pheromones emanating from it. I don't mind though cuz I love kittehs :D

I love video games, all genres. I collect them too, consoles and rare games and whatnot. Although I'm kinda sucky at many FPS games. I still managed Fallout 3 and Bioshock 1 & 2 just fine, but me playing L4D or L4D2 is just bad news. I piss off the entire team. I might sneak into Mass Effect when no one is looking. But I don't seem to get much better. It's part of my phobia. I don't want to look like an idiot in front my gamer friends. It's enough that I'm a girl; I can't be crappy on top of that.

I haven't had much time to play SSFIV much because the bf is training for EVO. A competition here in Vegas. He plays Chun Li and Makoto even though she's pretty borked. If you want to play him his PSN is Laterd. He lurks at Japanator too. So if you let him know, I'm sure he'd love to play with everyone.

I like Juri, but I kinda have a thing for evil Korean ladies.

Umm plenty. I'm kind of a transplant from Destructoid although I'm much more active here then there.
I've been trying to stay away from the PS3 so currently I've just been catching up on my portable SMT games. Devil Survivor on the DS and Persona on the PSP, some FFXIII, and the recent Ace Attorney where you play Edgeworth - awesome :)

Ah, fuck'em. Who cares if you suck as long as you have fun? Just mute them if you're playing online or punch them and tell them to shut it if they're in the room with you.

Lol, if he's training for EVO I don't think playing me would be very fun, seeing how I suck. Tell him I said good luck with EVO. Has he ever gotten to meet Seth Killian if he's gone before?

Juri's my favorite new character. I "main" Sakura and use Juri after I get beat then switch back to Sakura. Going to try using Cammy since I used her in SSF2HD Remix.

Dude, Strange Journey is AWESOME. You can smack talk demons like you can in Persona PSP and the demon fusion stuff is a lot easier. Can't wait for Persona 3 Portable although it'll be another JRPG I never beat.

He would still play you. You just might have a few bruises afterwards. :)
This is his first EVO, but he definitely knows of Seth Killian. Heck, I know of him too.

I still need to get Strange Journey but trying so hard to save for AX!
I can't wait for P3 portable too >.<
I beat the PS2 version. Epic ending! You should try to beat it this time around.
I wonder if I can make Junpei mai waifu if I play the female character. o.o

The bad thing with having an RPG obsession is that it takes so looooong to beat one of them..... With work and my TV obsession it makes it kinda toigh to juggle all of that. That's why I'm actually looking forward to the summer: No games I'm looking forward to, and mainstream TV is on hiatus, so I can try to catch up on my backlog.

@Setre: Yeah, the tutorial for the tri-attack in RoF was ridiculous and useless, but the game is amazing. The combat system is pretty much the anti-FFXIII. I think the developers of RoF saw the XIII battle system and said "that's for pussies, let's show'em how its really done". :)

@Mandril: Yeah, IRC would be nice to shoot the shit, but sadly I doubt I could even be on during the day because of work.... :( .... I wonder if there's an IRC app for BlackBerry's though.. To the internets!!

Apparently there is an IRC app for BBs. God I love the internet! Alright, Japanator IRC channel, make it happen!

Aw, you know, now that I think about it, Japanator's forum community is pretty small. I think I could cound the regular users on my hands and toes and still have extras. But somehow, that makes it a pretty nice and mature community as well. I agree with the others, some ways for more of the community to connect would be pretty cool. Get on it Japanator!

To be honest I think I might have brought up this point before, and Brad responded that the Japanator staff simply hasn't got the time to patrol & keep order in IRC frequently. I could be wrong though...
And even if that's the case, maybe there could be an unofficial Japanator channel. We could easily pick a random meeting place on IRC.

Yeah, I haven't set-up an IRC room in a while, so I forget all the basics for it, but we should definetely set it up to shoot the shit during the day. I'm pretty sure the ones in there will rpetty much be the same ones that post here on a daily basis anyways.

Oh, and I have one request for the room: I vote we make Justin Feinberg Colorado the SOP of the room :)
