Hi, everyone. I've been lurking about on this site for awhile now, and it seemed like such a friendly and welcoming community that I decided to take the plunge and register (a rarity for me.)
A bit about myself... I have been a closet otaku for about 11 years now. Phew. That feels sooooo good to finally get that off my chest, seriously. By day, I am a mild-mannered 24 year old grad student and irrigation/landscape designer and technician. I'm a scratch golfer, a runner, an artist, and a cinephile (Over 200 live action Japanese films on DVD. I'd be glad to give recommendations if anyones interested.) However, shielded by the cover of darkness, I unleash the hardcore anime and game otaku within. I love JRPGs and visual novels (I am a Type-Moon fanboy above all else. Can't wait for Mahou Tsukai no Yoru), and I have watched well over a hundred complete anime series and movies spanning every genre (Hentai, not so much). I have a hefty anime box set collection that is, literally, in a shuttered cabinet in my closet, and, while I am 'officially' an abstract landscape artist, I have sketch books filled with anime and game fan art.
Dare mo shiranai... Nobody knows about my obsession. My parents, my friends, and my employees are all completely in the dark. This is actually the first time that I have ever even gone so far as to admit it on the internet. Yeah, I'm messed up, I know, but I want to change. I look forward to embracing my love of Japanese animation, manga and games on this site, and I would be interested to hear your thoughts and comments on both my tastes and my situation. I apologize for the lengthy first post, but that was extremely cathartic (in a geeky way.)

I feel you, bro. I'd always watch anime alone and only start watching Adult Swim once my parents went to sleep. I still hide it in regards to my parents, but I've found friends that are accepting now, so I've cut loose. In all honesty, I've gone over the edge for them, I'm pretty much the anime guy in the group now.
